Here is a little introduction to myself. Who am I, what am I doing and why? I do not know the answers to these questions yet but I will talk a little about my everyday life, anyway.
My name is Katie and I am tiny human who loves to travel and learn new things. I was born in 1995 in Freiburg, a beautiful place in the Black Forrest and I grew up in a small village called Harsewinkel. Currently, I live in Giessen, a town in the heart of Germany where I study psychology.

After I completed school and successfully passed my A-levels the question came up what to do next. I did not like the idea of going straight to university or even start working. I wanted to see the world!
I did a bit of research and finally made the decision to travel abroad, Africa to be precise! I worked a lot during the summer trying to save as much money as possible. I bought all sorts of gear, packed my suitcase and happily boarded my flight to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania (to the great despair of my mum).

I had the time of my life! Not only did I meet a bundle of lovely people, I also made unique experiences and memories that I hold dearly. I saw stunning landscapes, lived in thrilling and buzzling surroundings and got to know a culture that was completely new to me. I worked together with amazing people and learned a lot about life, hopes and challenges.

Canada, the country of stunning landscapes big mountains and a great variety of cultures. Located in North America this is the second biggest country in the world. Translated "Canada" means something like "village" and refers to the time that explorers came to Canada. Its size of 9.9 million square kilometers could fit Germany 30 times! Canada has more lakes than all other lakes in the world combined and the longest coastline. Although Ottawa is the official capital Toronto is the biggest city with 4.3 million citizens.
Most people travel to Canada because of the Rocky Mountains and the national parks that offer unique landscapes.
The national animal of Canada is the beaver. But apart from that there are many other animals that call Canada their home, for example grizzly bears, moose, wolves but also polar bears and seals.
A country of that size has many different landscapes and climate zones to offer. There are arctic regions, beaches, mountains and woods. Therefore the temperature and climate varies significantly depending on the area.
Fun fact: Santa Claus has his own Canadian address! so you can send your wish list to the North Pole and hope your wishes come true.
Nevertheless, I had to face the real life as soon as I got back home and start planning for my future. I eventually decided that I was interested in brains and human behaviour and therefore wanted to study psychology. So again, I packed all my things and moved to Giessen.

In my free-time I enjoy meeting friends and having a good laugh while drinking hot drinks together. I am generally quite a social person who likes to go to parties and be surrounded by people that make me happy. Still, I sometimes enjoy spending time on my own. I appreciate good books, roaming around outdoors (preferably on horseback) or just taking some time to draw and sketch.
I am also highly fascinated by photography. Taking long walks and exploring my surroundings with the camera in my hands is one of the greatest joys I have!
"York University" was founded in 1959 and is located in Toronto, Ontario. With 53.000 students it is the third biggest university in Canada.
There are 11 different faculties and 28 research centres which are housed on two different campus: Keele and Glendon.
"York U" is the only bilingual university in Canada with courses either in English or French.
There are also more than 300 partnerships with international universities connecting "York U" with more than 178 different countries.
It also has the biggest program for psychology which is top ranked in national in international rankings.
